The main UK network providers not only support text messages sent to Florence’s short code 64711, but they also do not make any charges for texting this number (O2, Vodafone, 3, T-Mobile, Orange [now Everything Everywhere]).
However, some of the “virtual networks” don’t honour that arrangement. Although we’ve done extensive testing it’s difficult with the number of networks and contracts available to be entirely conclusive, but we’ve identified the networks listed below as those to be concerned about.
If a patient has trouble texting into 64711 then we’d suggest that they use Florence’s long number 07860 033 066. Both the short code and the long number will be charged at the network’s standard rate.
If you or your patients have any queries regarding the shortcode, you can look at Pay Phone Plus’ website, which is an Ofcom approved shortcode regulator. You can enter the shortcode, 64711 and click ‘Check it’ to view the shortcodes details.
